Hardwood and Engineered Wood Floor Installation
Which floor to choose? This is one of the questions most of our customers ask us and the simple answer is – either. This is down to the customer’s preference and budget. Whilst a solid wood floor may be more expensive, it is possible to sand and restore this more often than an engineered floor. Engineered wood flooring is still ‘real wood’ but with a thinner layer of wood on top meaning that heavy sanding may not be possible multiple times. Engineered wood often has greater stability than solid wood and can handle humidity changes better, but look just the same. You would however expect to see both types of floor las in excess of 25 years and often a lifetime with real wood.
Both types offer a very similar finish and we can work with whatever works for you. Our experts will be able to assist you based on your current floor and if you plan to add any ground heat source.

Parquet Wood Floor Installation

Door and Frame Trimming
When laying new flooring, there is likely to be a change in the height of the floors and door (and frame) trimming will often be required. Our teams use special trimmers to adjust the drop of the door frames, to make sure that your new boards will fit perfectly below, leaving you with nothing less than a perfect result.
Preparation
A crucial aspect of the floor laying process is the correct sub-floor preparation. Before the fitting of your new floor starts, there are a numbers of steps that need to be taken to ensure that the installation will be precise and ensuring the result will last for years to come.
The necessary prerequisites for the installation itself would usually include the sub-floor being cleaned, levelled, ensuring that it’s solid and gapless.

In some cases, we may also recommend using a liquid damp-proofing membrane, which is applied on top of the concrete, above which the hardwood floors will be installed. Its purpose is to help protect the new flooring from any rising damp.
